I'm reloading for the 6.5x55.....does anyone have any load data that has worked well for them? I'd just like to see what others are using I also need to pick Hogger's brain about that 8mm The loads he gave me when I bought it were nice.... I still have all my fillings anyway Thanks! |

Oh yes, I love swede's but I haven't reloaded for the 6.5 for a while. I'll have to check and see. |

In my chronograph log, I found very good accuracy with 36.5 grains of IMR 4895 and a 140 grain boat tail bullet. It shows around 2350 fps. It was somebody else's Swede who was at the range when I was there & wanted to chronograph his accurate load. I've never had one. kaintuck shoots a lot of 6.5 Swede but he has family stuff going on right now. I'll ask him to post his A load when he has a chance. SW |

I did load some up and went to the range yesterday, it wasn't too cold....at first All I had on hand was some IMR 4350 and the best group was with 38.4 load, 140 gr sp. 3 out of 5 were within a quarter size......course I was only at 50 yds I thought I'd try shooting without contacts or glasses and see how that worked. It worked better .......at 50yds |

Well I would say that's pretty acceptable for a first load! Approx 1.5-1.75 MOA out of a carbine is nothing to sneeze at. You get that dialed in you will be driving tacks in no time |

I was using 46gr of IMR4831 and a 140gr Sierra sp. Getting under 2" at 100yds in a 96 with this load. And it works great for hunting also. |

No objective data, but I tried Hornady #2630 140GR SP over 32.1GR IMR-4895, which should have produced 2300fps (but no chrono so I don't know) and got a 1" group at 25' with the Ljungmann, and little felt recoil. But the same load in my Krag-Jorgenson kicked like hell! I also tried Sierra #1700 85GR HP over 41.3GR IMR-4895 for a supposed 3000fps. Similar accuracy and similar kick. I wasn't really trying hard, firing standing, just wanted to make some noise with my new-to-me K-J with it's funny magazine. Anyway, both loads worked ok. If you are looking for a hunting load you can surely go higher, but for paper these worked. |

Thanks kimfella.....I loaded a bunch up about 3 wks ago with the intention of heading to the range, still haven't made it. When I get some empty brass I'll give that a try |
