I needed boolets for my new Greek Mannlicher & told Ellie I'd make her some fresh 8x56R ammo... I use the same .329" bullet for my Kropatschek so I made a bunch.

It had been a while since I cast but I remembered everything... except you really should wear socks when casting! :-o

I'm better now.

I hand lube by gently melting SAECO NRA formula lube on the stove and dipping the grooves into the melted lube. I use a small cast iron frying pan sold at tractor supply stores as a novelty ash tray.

Then comes running the lubed boolet through a Lee sizer after adding a gas check. Ready for loading! As soon as there's a little time. I ordered primed 6.5x54 brass from Grafs & will load a bunch when it gets in. SW

Those look well formed with no frosting.
Are you using steel or aluminum moulds?

Both are Lee molds. But only single cavity. Takes 4 evah to cast a pile.

Mario, powder is still available locally in fact I bought a couple pounds at the local gun shoppe this past afternoon. A decent selection except for the more common IMR stuff. He had both kinds I wanted. He also had primers but will only sell to cover the bullets you buy. Seems like a fair system to me. Actually I loaded up on primers just before the madness started. SW

The lubed 6,5 boolets are around 170 grains. The other is Lee's standard 205 grainer for 8x50 & 56R... and 8x60R Kropatschek. I run it through a .323 sizer for 8mm Mouser, too. SW

Stevesie, what mold are you using for the 6,5 MS? I don't see them list anything smaller than .285. Or was this the special run one you use for the Carcanii? Does the MS have a .268 bore dia?

This was a limited run made specifically for the 6,5 M-S. Some reloading group ordered a gaggle, and a friend put me onto the mold for use in Carcano ammo.

Might be a long shot, but a call to Lee might get you one.

The Greek is a worn .264". The oversized .268 works great for a good gas seal & accuracy. SW
