If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7.

Thanks for joining us from the administration.

H&K chambers are often fluted which doesn't do the brass any favors. Have any of you reloaded brass recently from a fluted chamber? I've got that Steyr that gives the same effect. It's accurate though & I'd like to keep shooting it... without using new cases every time. SW

What does a full length die do to it? That would make it refit the chamber.

Oh, the brass resizes just fine. I'm wondering how long it will last having been displaced that way or if case separation is to be expected. SW

You might have to watch for longitudinal cracks and splits. I would just reload till the do split. You might get one or two or maybe a dozen first. Better than buying new brass all the time.

I used to reload 7.62mm NATO and .223 Rem. that had been fired in rifles with fluted chambers. Their initial firing had been in a fluted chamber, but when refired I used them in conventional chambers. I have refired such cases several times before I scrapped them and that wasn't from a failure. They were scrapped because I wanted to beat a potential failure. No amount of refiring in a conventional chamber will iron them out. I never had any problems with the ones I refired several times.

Thanks for that! I make my 8x50R from 7.62x54R instead of the more expensive 8x56R but I still hope to get a few firings from each case. SW
