H&K chambers are often fluted which doesn't do the brass any favors. Have any of you reloaded brass recently from a fluted chamber? I've got that Steyr that gives the same effect. It's accurate though & I'd like to keep shooting it... without using new cases every time. SW |

What does a full length die do to it? That would make it refit the chamber. Rad |

Oh, the brass resizes just fine. I'm wondering how long it will last having been displaced that way or if case separation is to be expected. SW |

You might have to watch for longitudinal cracks and splits. I would just reload till the do split. You might get one or two or maybe a dozen first. Better than buying new brass all the time. Rad |

I used to reload 7.62mm NATO and .223 Rem. that had been fired in rifles with fluted chambers. Their initial firing had been in a fluted chamber, but when refired I used them in conventional chambers. I have refired such cases several times before I scrapped them and that wasn't from a failure. They were scrapped because I wanted to beat a potential failure. No amount of refiring in a conventional chamber will iron them out. I never had any problems with the ones I refired several times. |

Thanks for that! I make my 8x50R from 7.62x54R instead of the more expensive 8x56R but I still hope to get a few firings from each case. SW |
