My search for cheap bullets has led me to a new kind of bullet-for me. The polymer coated bullet. I bought from a firm called Blue Bullets. I purchased 2025 230 grain RNFP @ $.107 ea. Yes, I am cheap! Taking the box out of the mailbox nearly wrecked my back but I was smart enough to just let it fall. I've loaded up enough to go to the range Thursday and try them out. They seemed to load just fine. The polymer coating is a little softer than copper so the same case flare one uses with cast bullets is recommended for polymer.
The loaded rounds look for all the world to be miniature lipsticks with a lovely blue color. I can just see some airhead girl, spying one of these picking it up and trying to use it.

Is there a specific clean up drill for getting polymer residue from the barrel? SW

Enfield Shooter,

Are these lead bullets with just the polymer coating and no jacket?

I was with him at the range yesterday and he claims to God Himself that they are only for exterminating SMURFS. They seemed plastic on the outside and I couldn't tell about the insides, but I assume they are lead. I shall look for a wet carp to beat him over the head with and then a bright light to flash in his eyes when I ask him what the hell those things are and what load he uses.

Best Regards,

Mark

Citizen Swihart, I do not fear your carp. You do not own a fishing pole and fear to go where you may actually buy said bottom feeder.
Now to answer questions: I have not noticed any blue residue in the barrel or upon any other surfaces. The blue polymer coating is the jacket for a lead bullet.
I am using 4.6 grains of Titegroup with the 230 grain blue, Smurf hunting, bullet.
The brand of polymer bullet I am using is from thebluebullet.com
The price is $.107 ea. In case you wonder, I am cheap! Not as cheap as the good Citizen but still quite cheap.

when your done beating him the carp can go in the smoker - better yet lets smoke it first and enjoy it with a case of beer

Can you, say, use those.... indoors?

Okay, I'll use a clearance salmon from Krogers since yes, I have no fishing pole.

Wait, you answered my questions.......Don't make me eat clearance salmon. I better hope Kyung-Hee serves it with Kimchi and rice.

Best Regards,

Mark

For the last question, yes, I have been shooting them indoors.
I was up late one night and did some math. Below I list the results of numerical ruminating.
Tire group powder 4.5 grains = $.01 per round
bullets+$.107 Each
Primers $.03 Each
Each round = $.147
$7.35 per 50
A lot better than the $21.00 per 50 the range charges!

you got that math right - a lot better ,

ill admit ive never analyzed my reloads cost for the cowboy rounds i regularly reload , it does not matter to me - i shoot specific loads in the rifle/revolver and in the shotgun , whatever it costs , i build them and shoot them and enjoy the experience , ill never get rich cutting the cost of these loads , i dont shoot enough to do that by shooting the matches i shoot in good weather months we get ,

i appreciate those that reload for economy - ive never been able to put the time into that aspect of the game ,
