For broomhandle - not ammo for Tokarev or PPSh. You can't use surplus PPSh ammo in your C-96 = it will batter the frame.

So I've been experimenting to find a load that will consistently cycle the action but not be as hot as Tokarev ammo.

Using an 85 grain FMJ boolet, I have found 4.7 grains of 700X will stovepipe most of the time in MY C-96 but 5.0 grains of 700X works like a champ.

Why 700X? It's very hard to find alliant powders so I used what was closest and in stock locally. Also works in light 38 special.

I read one of Elmer Keith's books & he mentioned using Green Dot for 45 Colt one winter because he was snowed in & out of 2400. He was letting on it didn't work that well but would still whack a deer. SW
