I just got a rifle and zinc tin of ammo from my brother, both in 8mm even. The top of the can says 7.92, and right under that it says 380 buc.
So, I know it's 8mm and has 380 rounds, the buc makes me think german, buchse(sp?) I haven't read/written german in 20 years.

The head stamp is 21 RPR, and at 6o'clock is 58. They're brass cased on 5 round stripper clips, the clips are black, (blued maybe?) It looks like really nice stuff, but I was just wondering if anyone else might have seen this stuff or knows what country it might be from. Thanks for any help, and nice site

Ich Wiess.
The ammo is Romanian. Most probably 155 grain 8x57 mauser as you said. It would help if you had pictures of the rifle and ammo. The ammo is more than likely corrosive.

ok, lets try this

It's a nice M48, all matching. My skills aren't too good, sorry. With all the surplus out there, I just treat it all as corrosvie, I got a big bottle of windex with ammonia just for it
