I have a Krop. long rifle and have been shooting surplus ammo out of it. Now that my stash of it is running out I have started reloading for this using .324 sized 230 grain gc. Results have been so-so. I did get some .327 sized 240 grain gc for my next attempt. We'll see how they do and then try the .329 dia. bullets.

I'm continuing to experiment with the 8x60R Kropatschek. This morning, I tried the .329 GC Lee bullet with 15.0 of 2400.

Accuracy was so-so; certainly not as good as the 16.0/Unique.

Five shots went:
1. 1470
2. 1450
3. 1482
4. 1450
5. 1453

No pressure signs and very easy extraction. This was in my 1886/89 'Colonial model' Kropatschek which has a .329 bore.

At 50M, 5 shots went into 1.5" with the Unique load while the group using 2400 was close to 3".

I have other loads to test and will post results from same. I'm also working on 43 Dutch Beaumont loads, but no good information to post yet. SW

You mean like a new forum? I'm not sure... I'm concerned someone would take a lot of time and trouble to type in carefully researched data to the wrong forum only to see it disappear - as in be moved to the proper forum.

Would some experimenters become discouraged at that and not post further data that could benefit the rest of us? Then there are cast and jacketed loads for the same caliber... like 357 for example. Would it be inconvenient to click back & forth between forums looking for data?

I think what would be of the greatest benefit would be to list calibers in ascending size like a reloading manual, but I question how easy it would be. Bruce might have some ideas how that could possibly work.

Maybe putting the caliber of each thread in bolder type would help folks find data quicker. That would also be a lot of work and might not suit everyone.

But those are only my thoughts... others might like a separate forum for cast loads and I will certainly do my part to make it work if that's the case.

My original hopes for the forum would be to have some volunteers compile exaclty what you describe. Also articles on various different rifles & accoutrements. I would then make an information "Library" on the main page (www.yesterdaysweapons.com) with links to it here on the forum.

I know for a fact people access some of the information on obscure calibers here via google as a few have contacted me for further information.

I think the 'library' would be a good idea, and I will certainly contribute what little information of interest I possess. SW
