put together another experimental run of 7.62 nagant shells
using the berrys manufacturing plated wadcutters.

this run used 3.7 gr of unique powder and a remington small pistol primer.

I chronoed a cylinder full to get an idea of velocities
1 632.3
2 599.7
3 700.8
4 601.5
5 640.2
6 683.8
7 656.2

as you can see there is around 100 fps spread between the fastest and slowest shot. this actually surprised me a bit. Because they shot pretty well

as most folks know these pistols tend to be a bit inaccurate using 32 20 brass because of the long jump to the forcing cone. these loads are
an experiment to eliminate that by using a seated out wadcutter type bullet. I shot 21 shells thru the pistol today at 25 yds and managed to put all of them into a paper plate most grouped nicely centered but low on the plate a few flyer's but all on the plate. so I think I am sucessful in improving the accuracy but I would like to get the fps spread down to a more reasonable level.

however I know this. Even as is with this load anything paper plate size and up at 25 yrds is gonna have a hole in it first time everytime.

ive suddenly found myself in need of some nagant pistol ammo - so im checking all the posts that remotely relate , and some that dont , any thing you post im reading

What diameter are the Berry's bullets. I'm starting to figure out what I need to begin loading for the one Nam left me & am not even sure what the correct dia.is since info on the web varies so much.-TR

Funny thread, to myself....since were talking "experaments"
I have two cases of russian Military Nagant ammo a fellow sent me for my Mosin Nagant Imagine my dissapointmrnt.....
Like 2880rds each, and I have yet to score a Nagant pistol.........
with the price of ammo today, and the low cost of the pistols, It just may be worth it after all
I wonder if an insert could be made so a fellow could shoot them through a Mosin anyhoo....I have a chamber insert now for 7.62X25 that shoots kina nice, though not tight groups.....

whatta you think?

Iff'n the freight wasn't a killer, I'd offer to buy some , SOG ran out about the time I really needed some. I don't see why an adapter couldn't be made, but it probably wouldn't shoot well as most of what I've read seem to indicate that Russian military ammo runs .295" bullet diameter.
BTW SOG is still selling Nagant pistols for about $89.
