Looks similar to a "300 Patriot" which is primarily a bench rest round

DPMS was trialing a rifle in this at the range a few days ago , no rest involved - fired from the hip and shoulder ,

Then it's another twist on the heavier calibre in a little black rifle. Heck just go with an AR-10

That looks like the 308 x 1.2" Barnes. The same guy that wrote "Cartridges of the World". It was developed in mar, 1961 as a wildcat. It has about the same case capacity as the .223 rem.
