I'd like to cast for 7.65 Argentine but don't find gas checks bigger than 30 cal. So what are you folks using for that caliber or 7.62x54R? SW

Any problems with hot gas blowing by the smaller gas check and deforming the bullet? SW

The gas checks are bigger and get sized down when put through the sizing die. I haven't shot a ton of them but haven't noticed any problems

Can't find them right now but you can mic them before crimping to see their 'before' diameter

I can't find my .30s right now, but my hornandy .32s mic 0.334 in diameter. IIRC the .30s are about 0.318-.320 in diameter

Aha! Next payday, I'll order them & a mold. SW

Most 7.65s are about .311-.313 in decent bores. If you haven't you might want to slug your bores and make modifications to your sizer like Gary G. does in his oversize .334 M95s. A lot of Russian M91s and offspring are .312-.314. I know they are supposed to be .311, but except for the Finns and Finnish rebarrels I find most are larger than they are supposed to be. That is why a lot with clean bores will shoot better with cast bullets as .313-.314 jacketed are hard to find.

Ditto what oldernavy said. The satisfaction you get out of shooting cast bullets in the 7.62x54R is dependent upon determining your bore size and making or obtaining the appropriately sized bullets. Unless you do this, you'll go crazy trying to figure out why your groups are no good.

.30 gas checks work perfectly fine with the 7.62x54R.
