at the range i was near to a person i know to be a reloader , we dont know each other well at all so im reluctant to interupt him when he is shooting and recording data etc at the range ,
mostly i said hello/goodby , and in between complimented his nagant revolver , and comented i had one but hadnt shot it for lack of ammo ,
knowing so little about reloading i seldom make small talk about any of the details of it with foplks i dont know well - and those that know my level of understanding or lack thereof
anyway - this fellow is shooting the nagant , when hes done he loads up and is leaving , i notice a small zip lock bag with maybe 9 or 10 rounds in it on the table next to the one he was using , he was spread out over a couple as there wasnt many on the range that day ,
he is halfway to his car , i called to him and offered to bring them over to him and he said thanks - why dont you keep them , so i say thank you , didnt look at them and threw them into my bag ,
anyway - this noon i came accross them while cleaning things up ,
well the bag says -
-win primer ,
-2.4 gr trail boss ,
-???? [looks like 9Lgr RM]
-90gr WC
the brass case says -
-R.P / 25-20 WIN
there are more in the bag than i thought , and in looking at them there are two versions ,
one looks like a standard lead flat nosed wad cutter bullet , projecting 5mm
*the other [the curious one] looks like the bullet was seated backwards , the projection is 3mm and the projectile is essentialy straight sided [and knurled] with the top slightly recessed and slightly domed
why would this be done ? - or - am i looking at a cast bullit that is purpose made ? are these safe ? would they function correctly if installed backwards ?
ill try to shoot a photo and post it .........
