Because "you can't push a pull through" it it brakes? Ok Hack! Tie a length of thinish sturdy thread to the mysterious "loop" at the end of the BoreSnake. Make it a bit longer than the longest bore & action you'll use it on. If you do jam or break just pull that sucker out backwards! |

People saying if they jam & break you're screwed because you can't push it out. Probably not, but at last you can try to pull it out which should work much better! |

Good point! I hadn't though of that! I'll leave it there though, because the worst it does is nothing, & it might be helpful one day. |

im just past sober but i dont see the issue either - never had a bore snake break yet , have them in the kit with most all my firearms save the collectibles - i also have a rod in case but only had to use it once in the last 25 years and that was on someone else's gun , one pull thru and off we go - im not a heavy cleaner , but i dont shoot anything a lot except my cowboy guns - those we shoot till they quit or break , i shhot smokeless and ive only had issues with high primers and long OAL reloads thus far ...and only a few , oh , and ill add i load light cowboy loads in my working guns , i use factory loads in my trap and sporting clays but ive not had an issue with them either , |

I haven't either, but some go on about stuck / snapped bore snakes so I figured I'd post a possible aid if it happens. |

ill guess its a proactive post as ive never heard of one breaking when properly used , but then it is an interesting "what if ?" and well worth discussing , |

Iraq, 2004, Sp/4 broke his bore snake in his M4 and was now in a world of hurt. Not an issue item for maintenance and guess what ...there is a solid reason for that. Just what one needs in a combat zone, you're weapon Tango Uniform because you drank the bore snake Kool Aid. Hey...I use a Otis pull thru cable and have no drama. Recommend you do likewise but life is about choices and SMART CHOICES make a difference . |

ive used the otis kit , im still a fan of the bore snake - if you pull it back it retracts and comes loose , if you push it in it expands , i only think i have one bore thats long enough to be a concern - my sharps , but i doubt its even longer than the snake that fits it -- 410/45 |
