Anybody have one? I know there are a couple out there. Just got my colonial model Kropatschek & it needs a good cleaning. I got the mag cap & barrel bands off, but the action still will not come away from the stock. Solidified crud could have glued it in place, but I ain't getting mean with it until I have a clear idea what else may be holding it in. The brass mag tube maybe? It's pretty thin though & I don't want to crumple it by getting too rough. I tried using the directions for a 71/84 but they are a little different. Any ideas sincerely appreciated. SW |

Lolo, Thanks for looking!!! A fellow just told me I need to pull the thin brass tube about an inch to remove the action from the stock. It seems glued in place by accumulated crud & since it's so fragile, I think I'll just put it back together if a little alcohol doesn't help release it. On the plus side, after a good scrubbing with alcohol & hoppes, the bore is bright & shiny! Now to take a "butt load" of dish soap to the stock! Thank you very much for checking your reference books! Bruce, I would not turn any down! Update for the cleaning: I poured two caps of rubbing alcohol down the outside of the mag tube & messed around for 1/2 hour or so. It softened the crud to the extent I was able to pull the mag tube with finger pressure only! The tube was all crapped up & green, but I cleaned it well inside & out & used about a pint o' alcohol getting all the dried cosmo from the receiver & barrel. The cosmo actually prevented the metal from pitting badly! When everything was clean, I carefully replaced the tube & actually did not bend it! Put everything back together & it's off-a to the range in a couple days!! Life is good!! SW |
