I love what the have done to the display lighting. Pictures are much simpler to take now.

We were suppose to babysit but the kids plans fell through at last min. so we had the day free. Gotta try to get it together sometime that place is worth lots of visits.

That's only part of half a hanger. It has three full hangers. Been going there since I was a kid since I grew up around Dayton. I might qualify as a tour guide by now. If you come, be sure to sign up for the Presidential hanger tour real early in the morning. Trips to that hanger on base are few, but worth it. Recently, JFK's Airforce One made national news and it is stored in this hanger. They plan on a fourth hanger attached to the other three in the future as a Cold War themed hanger with the Presidential planes parked in it. Oh, that hanger also has a load of prototype aircraft and the Valkyrie bomber. Be sure to bonk your head while walking through the inside of a B-29. I once met a docent (guide) one Sunday morning who told me he gave the NATO call name to the Mig-23. Reportedly, a retired Major General is a real docent there. Apparently the Mig-23 in question on display was acquired by the BATF since the nitwit who imported it forgot to take out the 23mm cannons. One of my favorites is the Italian fighter in the WWII hanger. Nice looking lines and paint job. They also have a WWII German wire guided air to air missile. Tiny, but very historic. Bock's Car, the B-29 bomber that dropped the second atomic bomb is displayed intact next to some atomic bomb mock ups. My sweet 20 year old Korean niece commented what a nice plane it that was that made the Japanese go away. Best Regards, Mark Joes Pizza up the road has the best pizza in Dayton.
