Shown is different equipment of Germany and their allies. Of interest is the variety of grenades. Apparently rifle grenades were as likely to kill the shooter as the enemy - thus the array of rifles loaded to be fired remotely. SW

Notice the officer holds a camera. With the bellows, it could be an Agfa

This fellow's metal chest plate was for grenade pin pulling. It might also catch a splinter or two.

This style rifle grenade featured a rod in the barrel. If a regular round was used to fire it instead of a blank, things wouldn't go well, so they were often fired from mounts like this.

Germans in a freshly-dug trench. The officer is lighting a "paddle" grenade. Charges were attached to a wooden handle and detonated by a burning fuse.
