While looking for the Free french bomber pic for mybusa, I came across my copy of "In the Desert With Lawrence" by Lowell Thomas. Quite an interesting book of T.E. Lawrence vs. the Turks. Complete with period photos, and I scanned one I thought interesting... I got the distinct impression - and readily belileve - that the average Arab didn't care a fig who ruled what. But if group A would allow them to keep stuff taken from the deceased members of group B, they were all for that. Apparently, Lawrence had quite a time keeping them together after a successful ambush of a turk train. The Arabs would load up on whatever hadn't been destroyed and disappear into the desert for a celebration. Shown are two of the rabble that would accompany Lawrence - if the rewards seemed great enough. In addition to the handguns, I noticed the camel whackers attached to their wrists. The caption for the pic was "drinkers of the milk of war"... whatever that might mean. SW
