37mm Anti tank guns.. that had to be hard on the airframe. Not doing those Russky landing craft much good, either. This is supposedly Rudel's machine. SW |

The Russkys also had one using their NS-37 cannon, ( shown here on an Il-2 Shturmovik) but recoil was hard on the airframe, and a steep angle of attack was needed for the AP round to be effective against German armor. SW zIl2.jpg [ 32.77 KiB | Viewed 4287 times ] |

Have to check but I believe the Germans had several variations on the tank buster, starting with 20 m/m cannons, then 30 m/m cannons, till the ended with the D-1 model with the pair of Flak 18(I think 18?)A.A. guns each with a 6 round rotary mag.. I agree it had to be one heck of a strain on the frame. |
