You found something very interesting. It is also interesting that the the British X craft only got such a small mention. They certainly qualify as a sneak craft. And didn't the English navy use the Italians and their 2 man chariots against the Germans after they changed sides?

Yes they did. In the final days, IJN tried something like that but hadn't the resources left to take it past the testing phase. SW

The IJN used kamikaze subs…..but they usually failed. However, the Italians had quite a few successes. Perhaps the Japanese couldn't plan enough to get their crews back? Don't knock Italian ingenuity.
