Post subject: | WW2 Reenactment |
I just got back from a WW2 reenactment at Camp Rilea Oregon. There were about 100 Germans and about 50 G.I.'s. They had 4 MG42's and a 222 armored vehicle. Our biggest gun was m1's and a 30 cal. mg that kept jamming. Why are more people interested in being German than U.S.? Man,. I couldnt even think about puttin one of those uniforms on, gross. We gave em hell though! I soldiered with Audie Murphy's nephew both days. It was awesome! Hearin those MG 42's sure is scary. Does anybody here do reenactments? There were a few Vietnam Vets there, it was awesome to hang out with them! Thanks Vets!! |

Yeah, guess those guys forgot what those Germans stood for. Convenient memory lapse. I just shoot the rifles, don't dress up much. I do know a guy who does the Soviet thing. He's a good comrade to know. Watched some Audie Murphy movies and kept thinking how he put his PTSD out of his mind during shooting. His record is amazing. Best Regards, Mark |

I heard he was somewhat of a gambler. I think he brought PTSD injuries to the forefront and he a VA hospital named after him that specializes in such wounds. I think that's what wikipedia says. Best Regards, Mark |

I thought perpetual poster child for the PTSD Foundation was Ira Hayes. I can sort of relate to why he did what he did. SW |

It's nice to see Ira and his buddies at the top of this page! I forgot to mention a pretty cool thing that happened this past weekend at the reenactment. Jim Murphy, ( Audie's nephew) attended some 506th PIR, WW2 reunions, and he and Don Malarky were kinda buds I guess. Don gave Jim his oversees cap from WW2, and Jim let a few of us try it on and check it out! KInda neat! |
