Comrade Artist - here's the vid I sent you earlier. Now in safer youtube format.

The sign at the beginning of the vid shows Kubinka tank museum. This is the only remaining T-35 in the world. An interesting concept that just didn't work out. SW

Another resto vid - an SU-122 this time. Lord knows how long it sat in this park. They finally get it started about the 10 minute mark. SW

What is with the red flashing and the music cutting in?

Nice to hear those old engines crank again. The T-35 just didn't have much armor and once they started bringing AT guns around, she was toast. I do like all the turrets. The T-28 had three turrets, just the two in the back were excluded. Lovely tank design though. I think they were thinking infantry support tank.

Best Regards,

Mark

Not much good against razi anti-tank guns, but they were da bomb at patriotic commmie parades in red square. SW

Most Impressive…It looks like the infantry could just walk besides them. Of course, that old engine didn't sound real good. It must have roared back in the day.

Mark

I did a little poking around and found interior pics of the SP gun. As massive as it appears it was quite cramped inside. A regular cast iron coffin. SW

Nothing beats a 122mm gun recoiling back in a cramped space. I think the AT version had a 100mm gun, not chopped liver either.

Mark

....I'll have to look around in my files if I still have the link-or on some dvd's I burned if I have it on there...but a few years back there was a story on the web of a T-34 (I think it was) that was documented by witnesses that was captured by the Germans-who painted it with their markings and used it ,but ended up driving it into some kind of bog/swamp area where it sat until then when they dragged it out and it was almost new in its preservation state...they actually got it fired up and running again....

Here's another one - a StuG that didn't get blown up at Kursk. SW

Now to find a crate of M1 Garands left sinking in a swamp so I can afford one. Ummh, wood might not be very good.

Still, nobody found a KV-2? Turret is a dead give away.

Mark

The KV-2 is so much more toy-like in video. At least the crew had protection from small arms fire and artillery shrapnel.

But that turret was an 8.8cm AP round magnet.

At the end of the KV-2 vid is a link to "test driving the SU-122" Shows the museum spokes person guy squeezing himself into the driver's seat. A tight fit and he's not a large man!

I'm not claustrophobic, but I'd a LOT rather be a grunt ground assaulting Berlin than drive one of those! SW

Yup, those moving foxholes do tend to draw the eye and A.P. fire.
