On the road trip to the Expo in Ciney, we stopped at the Bastogne museum. Along were Andrey, Belgian Steve, Tamas from Budapest, Frederick and me. ( the token American)
Only 2 things are needed for a Euro road trip: a van and... beer!
First was the big American monument. All the states are listed as are various military units. FiL was in the 5th Armored which was shown on the Nebr side.

Then came the museum proper.

Just inside was a Sherman tank. Being inspected by Andrey and Tamas.

Beyond that was a German Hetzer. It's not nearly as big as I anticipated. Bad news, though.

On display was a Sherman that had been on the wrong end of an anti tank round. Trashed the interior and left a big divot on the off side.

After the museum we continued to St Hubert where we spent the night before going on to Ciney. This is the hotel and church across the street.

Had dinner at the hotel. I had what was basically a smoked ham hock only it was the entire arm from "elbow to wrist" served with béarnaise sauce. Split a plate of pommes frites ( potato fries) with Tamas.
There's a wide variety of beer in Belgium. I tried cherry beer. Not bad - put me in mind of a wine cooler.
