Moved from old YW site: gschwertley As I mentioned on this board before, my dad Donald F. Schwertley was an Army pilot in the Pacific in WW2. Here are three pictures from his photo album of that time. He flew with the 44th Fighter Squadron (TE), 18th Fighter Group (TE), 13th Air Force. He flew P-38L aircraft, primarily out of the Philippines. 2LT Donald F. Schwertley in his "office". My dad's P-38L with my mother's name painted on the nose. yockey5 Priceless! nam barney MORE! MORE! MORE! I love photos of the WWII aircraft. The "Fork tailed Devil" was one of my favorites. When I was in my preteens I built literally hundreds of models and my pride and joy was a 'stick' model P-38 with a 36" wingspan. I detailed that one more than any of them. Thanks GS Nam TNGunsmoke Totally awesome Jr1259 WOW, Outstanding. To have your own personal photos like that is indeed "Priceless". Thanks for sharing them. mikmarjon The Most I can get out of My dad about the Korean war is a story about him getting his license to drive a jeep as acting SGT. of the guard having never driven a car before And the stories about the poker games on the ship to and from.He won't talk about the war it self at all. These are awesome pic's, thank you for sharing them with us. |

Gary, Years ago, when I was 14 or 15, in 1985 or so, I bought an Air Corps B-4 bag at the old Antiques Firehouse down on Seattle's waterfront. It was in a militaria shop in the basement of the old firehouse called The Monkey's Paw, the guys who owned it were Tom Brate & Rich Richter. It also came with an old, fairly dry pair of russet brown, 11 lace hole GI combat boots. I still have both the bag and the boots. The boots I need to dig up to snap a few pictures for you, but today I pulled the B-4 bag out of my collection room so I could share some photos with you. I hope you enjoy these pictures. Best Regards, Chris Sharp Kirkland, WA
