The pic might be posed, but I believe the Marines to be the genuine article - they have a certain look that just can't be faked. SW

Are those German potato mashers hanging to the side of his waist? This probably was not posed in the dramatic sense. The cartridges in the bandoleer are uneven. The look in the eyes a bit weary, the facial expressions slightly gaunt. I think that look comes from battle experience and the expectation (or dread) of more. I could be very wrong.

The grenades could very well be German. Both sides used whatever they could lay their hands on. I found another pic of Russian soldiers using a captured 'nebelwerfer'.

The Russians also had a couple varieties of stick grenade one of which is shown in this close up. Not sure what model Mosin-Nagant the old partisan has. SW

Looks like an m91 judging from the front sight and barrel projection.

not real impressed woth the pin in that right pineapple - looks like a piece of wire - tied to his belt ?
