If you like that sort of thing, I have a couple pics of He-111 bombers showing German roundels but also the Italian "Vestigium Leonis" unit markings.

Maybe you will be able to tell if the crews are Italian - I can't. One shows an He-111 with 2 torpedos hanging from the hard points. ( not fused) I'm in Wyo right now & will post them when I return home. SW

Well all righty, then! Here are the two pics I have of He-111 bombers with German roundels and the Italian 'Vestigium Leonis' unit marking. I'm not sharp enough on uniforms to tell if the crew is German. Not sure about the lion, either!

The other shows two torpedos waiting for fuses. The Italians devoted a lot of time & effort to their aerial torpedo campaign and actually sunk a fair amount of shipping.

A friend from Italy told me Hitler gave Mussolini some Stukas ( shown) and Bf-109 fighters as well as a "few" He-111 bombers. I've tried to research 'Vestigium Leonis' but have learned little besides a couple new words in Latin. ( Vestigium Leonis = the lion's footprints... or similar) SW

Good pics. I've always been a fan of the styling of the Stuka.
