Found a small box in a dusty corner of my room last weekend.
Guess what.....there were some German WW II items in it.
I just thought they'd make a nice post.

First item is the "Verwundeten Abzeichen in Schwarz" or "Black Wound badge".
This badge was awarded for 1-2 wounds. Any wound requiring or not requiring professional medical attention. Cuts bad enough to produce a scar, strains and sprains and anything causing bleeding other than thorns.
And ofcourse......a picture.

Next.....some coins I bought at a flea market many years ago.

And last but not least........a plate...

The most interesting thing is on the back side though.

...and a close-up of that stamp...

I think I'll start looking in the other 3 dusty corners.
You just never know what you're gonna find. :D

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin

....AAAhhhh...Luftwaffe plate in excellent condition-beautiful :-o ...I'd seen some at one time on EBAY,but they were part of a bidding war and ridiculously overpriced  ...would love to find a nice example one day.I did manage to get a couple of mess hall forks  I've got several of the coins that look similar to the second coin picture you posted, but they are silver from '38 and '39 and have Hindenburg on the front, swastica on rear...and wow, that wound badge is in very good condition also ;) ...only medal I have is an Ostfront that my wife's father picked up from a captured German in Italy during the war...

The wound badge is interesting! I didn't realize they were awarded for such minor injuries!

I recall reading there were silver and gold wound badges, and I can't imagine someone qualifying for a gold wound badge and still be among the living! :-o SW

I have one kicking about here somewhere but it is WWI vintage & blackened.

I remember at the shows in eastern PA there wasa chap who had a table full of flatware & silverware like you show Martin. He used to go to DE & convince folks to sell off stuff they have sitting in their basements or attics.
I know I have a "Mountaineer's Pipe" I picked up from him with a burl bowl & cherry stem with an Edelweiss set on the front of the bowl.

While we are playing "Show and Tell", here are some of the things my granddad sent home from Europe. The flag isn't just any, it is a banner from Burchdesgaten. When Patton was ordered out of Czechoslovakia, my Pap's unit moved from Prague to Obersaltzberg. Of course they had to go see the Crow's Nest (as he said they called it). When he got there he, like many started hunting for souveniers. He made a trip that few would make, he crossed the gorge to the Tee Haus. The bridge had been blown out and temporarily fixed by laying planks across. no one would cross, so he decided to go see what was there. That is when he found the flag still hanging in the room where Adolph Hitler would drink his morning tea and read the updates.

The k98, bayonet, cleaning kit and coins(not pictured) came from a gate guard at a prison camp. The ammo pouches and ammo were purchased.
