Bombing raid memorial vandalised

The London Blitz came almost two months after the Wick raid
A tribute to the victims of the first daylight air raid of World War II on mainland Britain has been vandalised.

Fifteen people - eight of them children - died in the German attack on Wick on 1 July 1940.

The raid came almost two months before the start of the London Blitz in September.

A dry stone wall which is to enclose a garden of remembrance and stones inscribed with the names of the victims have been targeted.

The wall at Bank Row in Pulteneytown, Wick, has been vandalised on three occasions.

Funding for the memorial project attracted government funding.

The youngest victims of the raid were five-years-old.

The bombers were believed to have been attempting to attack the town's aerodrome.

Stuff like this happens because we don't have public lynchings anymore.
