top one is an 1893 spanish mauser, it influenced the M1900-01-03 rifles because of this conflict. second down is the 1892/6 Krag rifle that actually was part of the US armament as the 'new' rifles of the time. bottom is the 1898 Krag rifle that was evolution at this time. i dont have an example of the trap doors that made up the other staple of US armament in this conflict. hopefully one day ill get one, until then perhaps another, more fortunate than i, will post their examples of these? see here http://www.spanamwar.com./krag.htm |

Bannerman's catalog once listed 6mm Lee rifles salvaged from the battleship Main. They also listed 93 Mausers captured from the Spanish. All with the proper documentation of course. I expect there were a few 45/70 Lee bolt action rifles still in use by the Navy at that time. |

Another interesting topic of this war was how the Spanish fleet was blown to splinters by the Amercian navy. Go, Teddy!!! SW |
