Yes they are the beast! I think they are still in service and were used to drop J-Dam and other heavy stuff in Afghanistan. In Viet Nam they flew a lot of missions and the bombs they dropped were rolling thunder. I learned to keep my mouth open to prevent damage to my ears. |

A lot of the people I worked with in my years at the hospital, especially early on, had served in Vietnam, either as medics, nurses, or surgeons ... no medical emergency ever rattled them ... they were the absolute best to work with. One former medic told me about how accurate the B52 strikes were ... couldn't hear them approach, had no idea they were even in the sky above them, but what each of those planes dropped would obliterate what he described as the area of 'a football field' not too very far in front of where they were stuck |
