Attention New Members and those new registering!
We had a lot of problems with spammers and bot attacks with the stock measures provided by the software. The 7 for registration was a fix that we came up with on our own that has worked quite well. Yes it is a PIA for both you and administration to put you onto your chosen username.
If you come back on and your login does not work retry with your username without the 7.

Thanks for joining us from the administration.

....here's a couple of shots that Pete scanned for me of my slides....shot these particular ones in March of 76' I think it was.....in the Agean Sea...we had the Ruski's following us around and harassing us during flight ops so we had to go czech them out occasionally....this is a Kresta I cruiser, one of several Soviet ships that kept us company....look at the aft end....see the flat platrform??....that is where one of those weird Ruski Hormone Class (NATO designation) helicopters would sit when they broke it out....since we used to routinely buzz by them with our choppers and jets, they did also.....

.......well on one particular day while things were on the slow side, the call came in ..."CVIC-SIGHTING TEAM TO THE BRIDGE..."....that was me....grab the cameras and binoc's and go topside....something coming in to be ID'd......once on the bridge we could see that they had launched their Hormone and it was doing slow orbits around the Kresta( they were shadowing us a few miles off our port side)....then the sunlight glinted off the chopper as we could tell it was headed toward us...sure enough before to long, the was the ugly bugger circling around us and doing exactly what we did to them-take surveillance pics... :lol ...it went round and round us...and got closer and lower with each pass...it was well inside the "1000' bubble" that we were supposed to maintain...long story short, the bugger came right over our flight deck and hovered....dropped lower and lower till he was about 20' up ....the flight deck officer started giving him the signals to come in and land till he dropped to about 10'....I thought for sure we had a defector... :-o ...then he just rotated sideways where we could clearly see thru his door, waved bye-bye to us,and headed back to the Mother Ship..... :rotflma: ..took this shot of him as he got closer.....one of those memories that stick with you the rest of your life.... ;)
