On another site someone was posting about getting stung by wasps. Herein follows my wasp war story... Back in the day at Camp Lejeune, my squad was designated bad guys for a training scenario and took position in a small abandoned building. The good guys were supposed to effectively assault the building in a manner that would minimize casualties. I had an M-60 with belt of blanks for the exercise. We soon saw the good guys putting the sneek on us. When they got a little closer, I ripped off half a belt just to let them know they weren't fooling anybody. Rat-a-tat-tat... **sting, sting, sting!** Dang! There were 2 big wasp nests in the building we hadn't noticed & one was right above me! They did NOT like MG fire and attacked! I got nailed several times in just a few seconds. We surrendered. Training cadre laughed their butts off. Other than always watch for wasps, a big lesson I learned was that I never fired blanks again. They crap up a gun like you can't believe! SW |
