1) Any of you vets saw this a zillion times... Vietnamese woman smoking the vile weed they called tobacco. I think the word for cigaret was 'thouc'. (pronounced 'took')
How they could stand to smoke the stuff was beyond me! They would roll a 'thouc' and let it flop from their bottom lip. The women also chewed betel nut. Turned their teeth & gums black. Permanently. It also rotted the teeth but it was a mild narcotic & deadened the pain from chewing rice with the stumps. A self-perpetuating habit.
2) I found this pic on a Russky site. American troops & a couple ARVINs appear to be interrogating an enemy. The clothing hints that he might be a Viet Cong rather than NVA regular. I recall seeing a few scenes of this sort & strong negative reinforcement was what got results. (read: pain)
