Not mine, BTW. Whenever the ARVINs would pull off an ambush, the losers were hauled to the nearest village and laid out by the road to show the Army could still pull off such things.

The recently deceased would repose by the road with such weapons as they had possessed and passersby could photograph them for a small fee.

Sometimes, decomposition would progress to an advanced stage before they were carted off to the local dump or simply dropped into a convenient river.

I can't say for sure that's what happened here, but I saw such things like this. I figure Americans hauled the corpses in for the ARVINs.

Life was cheep in those troubled times. SW
