Its nothing too special or rare. Hardly mint, she shows signs of use. Over one million of these delightful .22 rifles were made between 1959 and then end of production in the late 1980s. Mine is a bit interesting though. Made in March 1959 its one of the first one's made. There is no serial number but the AF date tells me it was made in March 1959, so it is celebrating 57 years of existence this month. The number 5 behind the AF tells me it went to a factory employee. Probably some high level person at Remington. Not terribly valuable I suppose but still gives me pride in owning it. A neat little light weight rifle, accurate and dependable as can be, still giving great service after all these years. Dandy squirrel and rabbit gun, sadly the coyotes have gotten most of the rabbits around here. These rifles also saw some clandestine work in Vietnam. |

very nice , and thanks for the history as well , some i had not seen now these are something i have interest in , i have two a common black & chrome apache 05/72 and the common brown & blue mohawk 12/59 both are in decent condition i fitted the mohawk with a scope - used a long base mount i got from planet optics that makes the flimsy receiver attachment as stable as possible |

I have wanted a nylon 66 from the first add I saw for one. Always like the looks and thought they would be a great can popper and loads of fun to shoot. Yet despite that I have never managed to have one come home with me. I always seem to find one at a great price(for me that means Low(very low)) just after I emptied my wallet on something else. Someday maybe. |

Years ago I had a black diamond and I also had one of the Apaches with the chrome finish, that one still had the factory sticker on the stock. Let those go years back. Had to keep at least one... but if I find another at a good price it will likely come home with me. |

It amazes me the prices they bring compared to what they cost new. SW |

They have been out of production nearing 30 years now, that of course helps drive up values along with desire to have one. |
