At 11 ft high, 8 ft wide, and 33 ft long, they were not to be trifled with in traffic
Apparently, nine of them survive with 7 in restorable condition.

There was an earlier line of these promotional GM vehicles called Streamliners, and it appears some were actually put to work for cargo purposes...

The Streamliners have a unique look all their own, and are worth doing a net search on.

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

Found another futurliner pic. Page I lifted it from says it's a '39 photo.
I've been looking for a rear profile photo- they did have a bit of a "fin" on the rear...

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

Found a couple more Futurliner pics.
I have no idea who's jet engine this is.
I can't recall GM being in the jet power biz, but could be wrong...
Excuse the digitally compressed images. (Note front tires width)
Photo's lifted off the internet.

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

There's an un-compressed clear photo.
Duallies in front as well.
I wonder if the front wheels had power.
Evidently they were made for load carrying...

Doc Sharptail

That thing looks top heavy. I would not like to be in it in a high side wind taking a curve.

Evidently GM got their money's worth out of these.
They were still Progress Parading in '55.

Grand Ave., Des Moines, Iowa, 1955...

Check out the depth of field on this one.
Very likely a 4" x 5" negative.
I was looking at a Graflex Crown Graphic today...

Doc Sharptail
