1950 Austin Atlantic convertible. Left hand drive made for export sales.
There were a few Austin's and Morris's here. Most were 4 door sedans which were pretty small.

Dad had a station wagon that I think was probably a '52.
The tiny 4 cylinder motors didn't put out much in terms of power.

This information is from Brooklin Models.

Labatt’s Streamliner was a unique sight in Canada fom 1932 until 1955. The tractor chassis was produced by White Motor Company and the trailer chassis by Fruehauf. Designed by Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky, the bodies were crafted by Smith Bros. Body Works of Toronto.

They made 10 of these. They were ordered in 1941, but due to war were delayed until 1947. First Canadian truck with antijacknife tech and first to use airbrakes.
Powered by a 135 horsepower six cylinder five speed gasser.

Hogger,

The Sputnik mobile is in Italy or at least the flag is. The image is black and white so it is difficult to see the three vertical colors of the Italian National flag behind the PCI flag. I could not make out the front badge, but there are not many pickup trucks with gullwing doors.

Thanks for checking on both! Italian is plausible for the Sputnik-mobile.

I was thinking somewhere in the Balkans, but nearly all countries have a different alphabet there. Mostly Cyrillic or Greek. SW

The architecture looks like Rome and at the top of the photo it looks like four horses and an angel/chariot a common feature on the tops of some buildings/? ummm, maybe.

Final guess: Quadriga on The Vittoriano? The angel or victory has an outstetched arm and is not holding anything. A flag pole kind of makes it looks like a spear, but I think that is artifact.

There's a good variety of rides in this one. It was in a "retro" photoset and only mentioned parking lot of a concert. SW

Like the Lincoln style first photo.
Wonder what the roof line looked like before it was cut.
Seen a '46 Chrysler Windsor yesterday.
I didn't have time to get the little canon or phone out- it was gone before I could move.
Love the original midnight black that the older cars often wore...

I posted this mainly for the drag racing image. Back then you could get speed accessories like a "3/4 race cam" or suction cup valve grinding kit from JC Whitney.

Also a toilet paper oil filter kit for your late 40s - early 50s Chev or GMC pickup. SW

I can just see getting my leg all wrapped up in that belt. It wouldn't be pretty.

They did something similar in the Flight of The Phoenix movie with a modified revolver to start the plane's engine.
Can't imagine putting something together like that without a lathe.
It pays to have an engineer or 2 in your crew...

Like that vid a lot!

I have see lots of animated videos on how things work, but never on how a "coffman" starter works. There are single, triple, and six shot types. Apparently the smokeless powder/cordite acts on a separate piston to engage the starter ring gear at least on the later models. It was only recently that I came to at least partially envision how this occurs. Lots of useless verbal explanations. One animated video worth 10,000 words.

The one on flight of the phoenix was of the single shot type with only one chamber. If I am wrong educate me. Correction: I viewed the last part of the Phoenix and it looks like that Coffman/ersatz starter had six chambers, but I think it was studio made since it really did not look like the lock mechanism of the Coffmans I have seen. Additionally and more important was that there was no provision to mechanically or electrically fire the shell primer. The top of the cover was flat.
