...Le Sabre.

Image

This is a '51, and it's a concept prototype built by Harley Earl.
GM decided against producing the car, and Earl kept it as a personal driver.
I think this is the same designer that did the concept prototype '55 dynamic Olds 88.

Finally found a photo of the front of the car.

There's Earl with the LeSabre.
I can see why GM passed on this one. Edging into Studebaker territory a bit there.

I have been looking for a photo for a while now of a '70 Chev Sportvan 90.
Seems to be a fairly rare vehicle, but it's one that I did a lot of driving in once I had my license...

interesting , looks similar coming and going , still looks like and Edsel to me but then was not really a Studebaker fan except for the Avanti , those are still a very nice looking car

Looks like a body & fender man's nightmare if it came in the shop after a fender bender. SW

Did some digging and found that the '70 sportvan 90 was sort of a rare vehicle.
Roughly 647 were built.
The model year was cut short by the introduction of the generation III G-20 van series.

I found a photo of a not too badly beat sportvan 108, which had slightly more numbers made.

Those numbers above are the wheelbase length in inches.

Ours was the 90 inch version with the 200 h.p. 307 c.i.d. with the little Rochester 2 bbl carb, and turbohydramatic 350 3 speed auto.
