I have a recent story I would like to share with you other bike riders. I ride a 2004 K1200 GT BMW, this is my second BMW my first was a 2003 k1200 RS till it got totaled by some SOB! in a truck that hit me. but anyway moving on. I bought this 04 GT used in 2006 with a little less than a year remaining on the warranty. After one problem early in the season I had an issue free riding season and put the bike up for the winter. When I pulled the bike out of storage ad rode it down to the dealer for the yearly inspection, oil change and checkup, I noticed my cruise control switch was not working correct. Yes Beemers have cruise control. The dealer confirmed the switch was bad, but they don't sell a replacement switch, you have to get the entire left control module and it plugs in under the tank. So this left me with an estimated repair of $550 and My warranty had expired last july. I wrote BMW and pleaded my case. I explained that I was on my second bike and that I got my father into BMW's, as well as one of my best friends who is on his second BMW. and that I was not use to problems with there bikes. After an email back asking for VIN number and mileage and where it is serviced at, a week went by.... Then I got the best voice mail ever, BMW said after reviewing my case they were going to cover the repair 100% I could not be happier. Not only do they have one of the best bike warranty's at 4 yrs they will take care of customers that are a year out of warranty. I don't know any other bike company doing that. I will by another BMW the next time around.
