txpete,

Quick question about your 350Z.

Do the spark plugs go into the top of the head, like just inboard of the intake manifold? (not through the valve covers)

...well, you could just lift the hood and take a quick peek, but whatever...

The reason I ask is because, back in the 80's, when Nissan changed the Z's engine from an inline arrangement to a "V" arrangement, they based that design (heavily) on the old V-6 that GMC built back in the 1960's.
Nissan bought the design and the rights from GM sometime around the mid-late 1980's.
I know because I worked as a mechanic back then and saw one of those Z cars the first year they had the V6 and you could see the spark plugs were still in the top of the head, just like they were on the old GMC's.

I was just wondering if they're still using that design.

if you did you could be doing wheelies down the street :D

when I was in high school I know a guy that put a Pontiac OHC 6 in a bugeye sprite.he used a chevy 2 speed auto for a trany.he had to cut the hood to make it fit so it looked like he had a blower on it.he couldn't keep a AH rear end in that car but it was a screamer.

I have a friend with a 58 (i think) bug eye. Still trying to get it as it was a freebie to him. I also have access to a early 60's all aluminum 215 v8 that I could have for the spitfire. I really would like just to get my hands on a Mazda Miata motor and trans. they look like the best fit for the car per the many UK sites I have read.
