...absolutely gorgeous...but just from what I experience driving every day to and from work alone- if I owned one I'd be afraid to drive it anywhere these days other than a closed 'track' with all the idiots that have damn near hit me or run me off the road that are out there textin' and talkin while drivin'..... :-x

Good looking car but just what make is it?

I saw one that I would like to have last month but didn't stop and look at it. It was a 50 Merc.

Both great rides and it's always nice to see folks driving them and not hoarding them away for no one to see. :D :D

A square

She is hoping that this week she can make it to the "nut house" aka the DMV so she can take the test for her permit. Mini Blue as she calls the old Spitfire still in the garage awaiting her passing the big test.

Here in the socialist state of CA' teens have to take an expensive course to get to a drivers license. The process takes 6 months and is is a pain to the parents and our pocket book.

As to the mom here the longer it keeps Kaity from driving the Spitfire the better. She wants Mini Blue to disappear for good. "Too small" says mom.

Oh well can't win them all!

i do remember that dilemma well , at that age they just cant wait , and at our age [experience] we know the pitfalls and hope they dont run headlong into all of them ,

im pleased you still have that great car and that she sees it as a big plus to have such a classic ,

I even asked her the other day what she really wanted to dr either the Triumph or the Ford Explorer. She still chose the Triumph. Guess I had better get around to putting the windshield back it!

yes , the windscreen would be a plus - how about a roll bar ?

actually , im going to say this out loud - only once - and because i doubt she will see this post ,

my daughter was an excellent driver and a carefull one till she was out of college [after her masters actually] when she had her first accident due to minnesota ice and snow on the freeway around the twin cities , not really her fault ,
and i cannot fault the experience i had with her or my son in their early driving years

No roll bar yet. I can't seem to find one that would fit under the cloth top. I can find roll bars for MG's all the time but none for the little ole spitfire.

As to Kaitys driving skill she is not too bad. We spent a lot of off road fun driving and my favorite which was backing up with out hitting some bee boxes! That will pucker things up a bit.

i can imagine , that was always a bugger , i back with my mirrors - years of towing a boat , so i had trouble splainin that backin up steering concept to my daughter , her mother helped with that and parallel parking :D

tell her there is a gray haired old man out in the middle north of the country that envy's her little car and would be in seventh heaven if ever the occasion allowed her to take me for a spin around the block in "mini blue" , tell her im countin on her being careful in it and of herself ,
