......the forgotten 'classic'. Well, not exactly a 'classic', I guess, but they are an interesting shotgun. I have a 1941 vintage 20 bore that has become my favorite Ruffed Grouse gun. The Model 24 is not svelte, by English standards, but is okay when compared to other American 20s. With 28" barrels it tips the scales at 6-1/2 pounds. In 1941, it retailed for $31.65, about half of the plainest Model 21. Mine is in great condition. The chopper lump barrels retain about 95% of the original rust blue. The ribs are straight and appear to be in their original positions. The stock, unfortunately, did not fare so well. The first season I used it, the remnants of the original finish started peeling and the sweat from my hands really made a mess of the exposed wood. At some point in its life, a red 1922 Patent Winchester pad was added. The pad was pretty well decomposed. The stock had been shortened at least an inch for the pad. I installed a repro 1922 pad from Galazan and laid about 15 hand rubbed coats of Tru-Oil on the wood. If the stock had not been shortened, I would have sought an original buttplate. Are there any Model 24 owners out there? CHEERS! |

Should be good dove medicine, too! I have never appreciated shotguns like I should... just used them to blast ducks, etc & so forth. I could get into a Kreighoff drilling, though! SW |

Hi, Gatsby. I have a swell digital camera, but I do not know how to post pictures here (or any forum!) |

I thought we had a sticky somewhere on this. Couldn't find it. You first need a photo hosting site like Photobucket.com. Then you get the URL of the pic once it is uploaded to the sight. Copy it & past it into your post between the code generated when you hit the " Img " button above the post box |
