This is a NITRO MARVEL 12g 30" barrel,no choke size or 12g on it anywhere but it is a 12 and weighs a ton.I have been scribing on it for a hour before this picture.Never seen the old ape on it when i started. Now that we are introduced i must try to help it out.To at least make a nice wall hanger out of it. Ill post it when I'm done.

If it could talk or have recorded some of what it has heard we would be in awe.

You need to talk to Hogger about fixing that stock up. He's got a pretty good technique going.

The stock doesn't look all that bad. If the Mrs wouldn't get out her scalping knife, you can heat the dark pieces in the stove to bake the oil out.

I use whiting ( calcium carbonate), but plain old kitty litter will absorb oil as it comes out of the wood. The cheepest stuff works just as well as the colored & scented kat poop box stuff.

Or use liquid dish soap & scrub like heck.

I like 1 hour 2-part epoxy. The 'quick set' epoxy isn't any good for this application.

Get as much of the oil out as you can - really slap on the epoxy - cinch it down somehow like with rubber bands or small C clamps & forget about it for a couple days to let the epoxy cure. SW

Wonder if you could saran wrap the receiver and get some sort of release agent on it. Then you could expoxy the stock on the shotgun, wrap the repair in release treated saran then wrap it tightly with surgical tubing. That would get you a perfect fitting repair.

Old whats his name is apoxy together and has 3 pins. The cavity inside was filled with JBWELD and its on the wood stove drying.
Looks Farley good.It was a free fix for a friend who was going to give it to me for parts.I think it Will be a good wall hanger that can be taken down and fired on New Years or once + awhile for fun. I can't make it wiggle its super strong too.
Pictures to come.

Johnny,

Looks like you've got a nice old Iver Johnson.
Is that a "Champion" or an "Owl's Head"?
