Since we don't have a specific forum for projects and building I am posting this here.

The first part of the puzzle has arrived
the parts kit destined to become a semi auto m-52 (mg 42)

all parts are accounted for and the barrel is in excellent shape
Image

5 more pieces needed to buy

1 barrel bushing repair piece. (this is one of the things torched in a de mil)
I think I will be getting one from weaponeer forum for 105$

2 80% receiver from coldsteel solutions. 350$

3 a tig welder from harbor freight about 200$ on sale

4 ratchet plate 20$ from weaponeer

5 buffer cam tabs (I may just make these myself)

as you can see this isn't a cheap project but will be well worth it I think.

I will post updates to this post whenever I make progress on the build
or acquire a new bit to add to it. And will try to be in depth on the how I did it in case any of you want to give it a go.

GG

Where did you get the parts kit to start with and how much was it? Thats a nice looking set of parts!

Don

Can we have an area to post projects like this? I have my 1919 and a Sten that I'm going to convert this winter to semi and I wonder if there are others with this kind of projects

Mybusa

Parts kit came from SOG 249.99 plus shipping

Yes it is a good lookin set of parts

a project forum would be great many minds may be able to help
where one would be puzzling for years.

I'll volunteer to help with the above mentioned forum if it does become reality.

That doesn't look like enough parts, but I'm sure there will be parts left over when you're done :!: There's always parts left over

Looks exciting, hope to see it come together for ya!

Was going to drill the locking wedge for the new firing pin
the operative word is was. I do not own a drill bit hard enough to drill it.
must spend some money for the right size drill with a carbide tip
tried normal hss. tried titanium coated. tried cobalt ...... Not even a dent
this crap is hard!!!! got some pics of the wedge but camera bat is dead so
I'll have to post em later

GG
