I've been working on putting together some AR's
First one I had a Stag lower laying around for a few years (from the last group
buy) and I finally had the $ from selling one of my M1's to get an upper for it.
Got a light weight profile DD 16" midlength to complete my fun 'plinker'. Of course
not content to leave well enough alone I had to break out my rattle cans of krylon
camo paint
Lucked into the deal of the century on an AR 332 scope, which
sits atop (haven't had the nerve to shoot it with the paint yet).
The other was a $65 lower that a local bought from me. He didn't like the roll
marks and returned it to me about 2 days before the whole CT psycho shooter
pulled his stunt. I had a LPK around and slapped it together. Since the pic I
managed to get a used CTR stock in FDE & 6 position milspec buffer tube with
a T2 heavy buffer. I have a 24" hvy varmint upper that I am going to sell off the
barrel & bolt to fund a custom 18" poly-rifled 6 X 45 barrel. I will complete it out
as an SPR clone but in the popular wildcat calibre. Make it a REAL 500-600m rifle.
Then just to keep things interesting I picked up a beautiful M16A1 kit from
McKay's and will have to get a Nodak A1 retro lower and a pencil barrel to
complete this one out. (not my pic but the one I got is in beautiful shape)
It's not the slick side but has the the tear-drop forward assist. No Brunton bump though so I still may catch some hot brass in the face being as I shoot lefty.
Word is these were A1's sitting in an Israeli warehouse for years on end. Century
went over & disassembled them, left the barrels, lowers & auto sear, and shipped
them in.
I also got ahold of some C7's and can use these down the road. These do have the Brunton Bump to save me the 'burn'
. Fortunately I can use regular A2 lowers on these and still be correct.
Seems now I have enough to keep me busy & broke for a while yet!!!!
I really hated to part with my M1 but it sure got me lots of crap to tinker with
