Okay... I got the Gahendra completely apart. The hardest part was the rear fore arm pin which was bent. Other than that it went well. I think the threads were smeared with yak fat before storage & the screws came out easily enough.

My greatest fear was unfounded - the firing pin was intact! I've been told those are often broken. Apparently if you try to force the breech open, you can shear it off if things are stuck by solidified yak fat.

Next move: soak the receiver parts while I'm off playing trains. Then spray the wood & barreled receiver with paint remover - carb cleaner - something of that nature.

I also better order dies & brass - this one looks like it will be a decent shooter!

I swear these guys used more yak fat than Albanians used cosmo!! SW

Got it cleaned today & mostly back together. I'll post more pics when I get the stock a little spiffier & ready to shoot. A few pics in the Apr Purchase forum. SW

Ta-daaaaaaaa! All cleaned up & ready to shoot! Shown are the minimum of tools I needed: a couple screwdrivers - a punch - a dental pick - WD-40... paint remover ( I also used a can of spray paint remover on the thickest yak fat), a plastic dish scrubber and a brass wire brush. Not shown is the large pile of filthy rags, rubber gloves and a mallet.

Buy several pairs of rubber gloves FIRST! Now I'm seriously considering a Francotte Martini from IMA $189 + freight. We will see! ;) SW

does that sling ring interfere with lever operation ? it looks like it would , my martini has it mounted [the holes there] in the trigger assembly block ahead of the lever ,

It doesn't seem to. Not sure how it would work with a tight sling. SW
