Greetings Everyone: Folks just call me Gunny, after 21 years service in the Corps, it's still attached to me. Came across this great forum while doing a little more research on a few of my rifles and been browsing through the posts. No doubt, great bunch of folks here... Semper Fi ... |

It's probably heresy, but I like the SAFN a lot better than the Garand. Since I'm left handed but I like other features, too like the cocked indicator on the trigger guard. Jump right in & post away! I learn stuff from everybody! SW |

Hey Gunny, Another welcome from the Royal Dutch Army. I never owned a Garand nor did I own a SAFN but did shoot both. I have to say that I liked the Garand best and this is not just because Mario promised me that big juicy T-rex size steak some time ago. The only FN I owned was a Dutch FAL. Well........I didn't really own that rifle, but it's been in my locker for quite some time. Glad you found this place Gunny and let me tell you that this is a great place to be. Met vriendelijke groet, Martin |

Hey Gunny, Old USN "ordy/red shirt" here. Those 49's are some sweethearts. Wish I'd kept my 7MM. As it is, I'll just have to use my M-1 or the Stg-58. Willie |

Welcome from one E-7 to another (army). I'll add in some French cuisine and say I'd rather pick up and carry all day a MAS 49/56, over a Garand if given a choice. I own both and just like the compact package of the MAS, very robust and a good shooting rifle. |

i luv it when new folks find these older threads and resurrect them , i often forget just how much i enjoyed the posts in some of them , i am actually looking forward to one of texpetes coming back up i miss him a lot , sometimes its good to revisit the past and recall how far we have come , thank you shuvelrider , it does my heart good my FN got a new 22cal conversion unit this year and it works really well - minnesota state bird target at 50yds , full clip ran full out , she works super fine .............oh - and this is with her irons and my old eyes because that cover with the red dot is a para cover with the built in spring guide , had to order a replacement dedicated to the conversion unit that fits the standard rifle , and as long as im adding to an old thread - my roots are in arkansas , its where my great grand parents raised my grandfather , he was the railroad station master in eurika springs , his photo was still hangin in the old depot when i was last there , only moved to iowa because the buisness he started got funding from the town to relocate ....nuther whole story in itself , one day may relocate there - when i get fed up with the snow and cold |
