Well, now that I'm starting to cast my own bullets (since I'm not buying anymore guns as of the moment), I wondered what would be a good cap and ball revolver to get. I only know the 1851 Navy revolver in 36 caliber. I need more selection than this.

Best Regards,

Mark

BTW, are percussion caps still out there, or merely hoarded as usual?

How about an 1861 36 cal with 38 Special cylinder? ( it comes with both cylinders) SW

I could actually live with only the normal black powder one. I do shoot 38 special though. So 36 round ball is also 38 cal?

Best Regards,

Mark

The round balls are .375". I load those into 38 cases & it works just fine. Or you can shoot commercial hollow base wadcutters. The skirt expands to engage the rifling.

But I'm cheep & use the same .375" round balls for both. SW
