The adventure continues... I loaded more cases with 32.0/AA5744 and the .575" hollow base boolet. Which was a miserable failure. I couldn't keep 5 shots on the 4' x 8' target holder. Some of the bullets really howled from tumbling.
I measured the muzzle carefully to find ID was .580" +/- Which means the rifle wasn't going to hit a bull in the butt with a banjo using .575" bullets. Worked a trade with Comrade Machinist SwihartMark & he made me a custom sizer that reduced .600" round balls to about .581"
I only had 5 balls left & got those sized & loaded over 35.0/AA5744. Out to the range to fire for group. No grease grooves on round balls of course so I lubed by dipping each ball into high temp lithium grease I use on my M1A. Can't see any leading after the fact, so that seems to have worked.

Success!!! All 5 shots on the same target - on the same target holder, even!
The group is nothing to brag about, but I'm way happy. Now it's just a matter of trying different powder charges to shrink the group. This target was 25 yards.
Never say die!!
