Bought a nice S&W .12ga pumpgun at the range shop.
It's not new, been played with, but I don't think it has ever been fired.
Don't have pix of the actual gun yet, will try to get those on friday, but here's an example of a similar one.

Looks like a steel receiver,a bit like the older Stevens 67.Hope she shoots for you as good as it looks.

Good afternoon.
I have bought a Smith & Wesson "Eastfield Model 16-1" .12ga pump shotgun
It is still at the store as I'm awaiting my permit. It looks quite good, almost like new. I have shot 10 rounds through (as a test before buying) it without problems.
BUT: I have not been able to find a lot of information about it on the net, and whatever I have found is mostly negative. Now I'm concerned ...
Did I buy a lemon ?
Should I panic ?
Should I reconsider the deal ?
Please advise.

Everything I can find says you would be better off with a Remongton 870
(Here they are about $300 (US) at Wal-Mart.) or a Mossberg

There will be MUCH more in the way of aftermarket bits as well as repair parts/replacement barrels

Essentially S&W put their name on a Japanese made shotgun. From pictures it appears that it has a screwed in barrel instead of the quick change of the Rem or Mossie, which would make changing around your platform a lot harder

I think I saw "Made in USA" on it. I would not have bought it if it said "Made in Japan" that's for sure. It IS a steel receiver. Has a big S&W logo on the left side of it.
As for adding/changing parts, I like it the way it is. The only thing I would consider is one of those military heatshields over the barrel. Will be using it for slugs almost exclusively as it's the only 12ga ammo allowed at our range. Distances 10m - 25m - 50m.
