I'm no stranger to bidding a couple hundred past stupid, but I fell to idiotic on this one. Fortunately, the seller didn't realize some of the selling tricks like have your auctions end on Sunday night so you get more bidders. This one ended 2:30 on a Monday when a lot of the usual suspects were at work.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =372211926Not me! I worked last night and was in at the end to grab it for not as much as I was prepared to pay.
It's very unusual. It has a civilian serial number but was made in 1939... 3 years after the last civilian Carcano. Also notice the brass plate. I did American google-fu on Turazzina and also plugged it into google.it All I found was names. No places or ship names...
Which leads me to believe it was a shooting prize - maybe an award or retirement gift. It's in excellent condition and is definitely not a combat vet.
Research follows. When I have it in hand I'll post detailed pics. It will be in the next Carcano book.
I'd rather be lucky than good!!
